Trekking Team

SMUX Trekking Team was first established in 2000. Throughout the years, we have explored many territories as a team. The experiences includes adventures from as far away as Mount Kilimanjaro in exotic Africa, the alpine slopes of China in our Mount Ao Tai Na expedition, the scenic volcano trek Rinjani in Indonesia and to the many beautiful pristine rainforests in the Malaysian Peninsular. In addition, the team embarks on a yearly cycle of G7 treks in order to challenge our members and in the process learn and grow as individuals and as a team. SMUX Trekking Team goes on an average of 8 treks a year.

2009 sees the commencement of a new chapter for the team. SMUX Trekking Team, led by the 3rd Executive Committee is going back to our first principles, fostering greater ties and relationships amongst all our members and equipping with the necessary skills and knowledge on the activity we love.

More importantly, the team promises to bring about the experiences of learning, of venturing to new territories, of enjoying the great outdoors, of fostering long-lasting friendships, of discovering about oneself… We believe that every person has the right to enjoy the outdoors, and we look forward to initiate you into our passion.

Mission Statement

With our passion for trekking, we come together as a team to provide a platform for fellow trekkers in SMU to bond, share knowledge and pursue our love for trekking.

We strive to introduce what we do the uninitiated, sharing with them the beauty of nature and of climbing mountains through the events we organise.

We endeavor to challenge our mental boundaries, and in the process grow in strength as a team, contributing to the greater good of SMUX.
