SMUX Kayaking has been since 2000 when SMUX was first established. It was until year 2007, SMUX Kayaking Team was finally formed with its very own first Team Exco. And we are now in the 2nd year of our Team status, under the umbrella of SMUX as the CBD.

SMUX Kayaking Team’s main objectives are to spread the passion of kayaking and paddling related activities to SMU community through the planning of expeditions and courses. The activities consist of whitewater rafting, 1, 2 and 3 star courses and local expeditions around Singapore and neighbouring islands for example: Sisters’ Islands and Palau Hantu.

Besides the activities planned for SMU students, SMUX kayaking members also do meet up fortnightly for their regular dose of kayaking. Some regular places include Palau Ubin, Punggol Beach and the area near Merlion situated near to kallang basin.

In mid 2006, a new initiative – Canoe Polo, has also been set up within the Kayaking Team. The sport, which is already very established in many other tertiary institutions, is slowly gaining more members as their training progresses. Weekly trainings are held at Kallang River, although the Team is in the process of sourcing for a better training ground that is ideal for the sport.

  • About Us
SMUXtremists (SMUX) was established in 2000 by a group of like-minded students who sought to share their passion for the outdoors with others in the Singapore Management University (SMU). Starting off with just 9 individuals, SMUX has in just a short period of nine years grown to become an established and respectable club within the SMU community. Currently, with a 1000-strong membership base, and managed by a dedicated team of 15 committee members, SMUX is consistently the most active and largest Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) Club in SMU.
