SMU Adrace 2011!

The following pictures give a brief overview of how SMU AdRace 2011 Night Edition was conducted.

Photo 2: Safety Briefing at Singapore Flyer

After their respective safety briefings, participants are given a 10 second count-down to their flag-off. We see participants rushing down the escalators of Singapore Flyer Sky Deck, full of vigour.

Photo 3: Participants starting off their race

Participants made their way down to their very first activity point, Marina Bay Sands where they tested out their wits, trying to solve the puzzle in the shortest time.

Photo 4: Participants solving their clues to get to their next checkpoint

Upon solving those difficult puzzles, participants had to figure out where the next station is located, based on the clues that have been provided to them.

On to the next station: Singapore Management University Administrative Building.

Participants make a mad dash for the swimming pool, located on the 6th storey of the Administrative Building. Changing into their swim attire, participants subsequently began their underwater manoeuvring.

Participants who are new to the snorkelling equipment had a difficult time. You see them choking and retching when they accidentally swallowed the pool water. But it was a refreshing experience for them.

Photo 7: Partcipants at the Laser-Tag Station

Participants get to enjoy one of SMUX XSeed’s trademark activities, laser tag. They certainly had all the fun and intensity of a shoot-out, less the wounds and injuries!!

After completing laser tag, teams moved towards Labrador park where they had a chance at plankwalk.

After completing their plankwalk activity, teams proceeded to collect their bicycles and cycled through the central business district towards East Coast Park.

After leaving Labrador park, teams arrived at East Coast park where they tried a new activity, Trikke. Teams were required to manoeuvre the trikke towards Goldkist Beach resort along the cycling track of the park.

Upon return from trikke, participants put on their skates and skated along East Coast Park towards Fort Road.

After completing the skating segment, all participants moved to Kallang Riverside Park. Open category participants had an additional segment, which was kayaking at the Kallang Basin. But what is the point of just kayaking along the basin since it would be boring? So we spiced it up for them with more clues to complete, which heightened their enthusiasm level.

Photo 18: Participants at the Butt Bash Station

Butt Bash?? Sounds stupid, but look at the joy in the participants’ face as they attempted to complete the station. This station brought back the child inside their heart as they played with sponge and water.

Right after their Butt Bash Station, racers rush back to the end point, SMU.

At the end point, participants will submit their race card to clock in their timing. After computing the race timing together with time discounts and penalties, the top three teams with the shortest computed timing were awarded our top prizes.

Photo 20 shows the 1st runner up for the novice category; where they win themselves an ipod shuffle and waist pouch each. Posing with our winners is the guest of honour, Bernadette Toh, the Director of Office of Student Life.
